Gurgaon, February 10, 2026: Gurgaon police have arrested two women in connection with a series of saree thefts at Meena Bazaar showroom in Central Mall. Authorities recovered two stolen sarees, ₹3,000 in cash, and a magnet allegedly used to remove security tags from the stolen merchandise. The investigation is ongoing.
How the Theft Was Carried Out
According to police, the accused women used magnets to remove the security tags from sarees, preventing alarms from sounding at the exit gates. The method allowed them to steal items without detection. The theft came to light after a showroom employee lodged a complaint at DLF Sector-29 Police Station on September 15, with a formal case registered on September 19.
Arrests and Investigation
The Crime Branch, Sector-43, traced and apprehended the suspects, Pinky and Laxmi, residents of Vivek Vihar, Delhi. During interrogation, it was revealed that the women, along with an accomplice named Rajkumar, had traveled from Delhi to Gurgaon to target the mall in a pre-planned operation. Investigators believe the duo may have carried out similar thefts at other shopping centers using the same magnet technique.
Stolen Goods Sold in Black Market
The accused admitted to selling 13 stolen sarees in Delhi’s black market for ₹12,000, while police recovered the remaining items and cash. Both women were produced in court and released on bail.
