
In a strict action against obscene content, Patna police detained popular Magahi singer Anup Pandey for creating and sharing an indecent song and video. The singer faced immediate FIR registration and questioning by the authorities before being released on bond after issuing an apology.
FIR Filed Against Singer
The controversy erupted when Anup Pandey shot a song and video under JP Setu in Patna, which was deemed obscene and offensive. The Digha police took cognizance of the matter, registering an FIR against the singer and initiating a swift investigation. Upon reaching his residence, police brought Pandey into custody and conducted questioning. Sources revealed that Pandey immediately begged for forgiveness upon seeing the police team.
Apology and Release
After formal proceedings, Pandey was released on bond. He later posted a video apology on social media, promising not to post any offensive content in the future and assuring that all objectionable posts on his account would be deleted.
Police Action Against Others Involved
Authorities have also taken notice of the individuals who assisted in producing the song and video. These collaborators, too, offered apologies to the police.
Patna Police Stance on Obscene Content
Anup Pandey, a resident of Banka district, has over 31,000 followers on Instagram with approximately 1,400 posts, including several containing inappropriate content. SDPO (Law & Order-2) Muhibulla Ansari stated that the police will continue to take action against vulgarity and obscene content to maintain public decency and social responsibility.
This case underscores the vigilance of law enforcement in Bihar against social media obscenity, serving as a warning to content creators across the state.
