Mysterious Deaths of Over 12 Cows in Narsinghpur, Police Await Post-Mortem Reports

Narsinghpur: Panic has gripped the Niranjan Ward area of Narsinghpur after the suspicious deaths of more than a dozen cows. Authorities are investigating the incident, with initial suspicions pointing towards food poisoning. A case has been registered against unidentified individuals, and the post-mortem reports will determine the exact cause of death.

According to local sources, the cows were found dead near Damaru Valley and the 132 kV power substation. Mamta Bai of Damaru Valley filed a complaint at the Gadarwara Police Station, prompting the police to register a case under Section 325 of the BNS against unknown persons.

Post-Mortem Reports to Reveal Cause
The veterinary department has been instructed to conduct post-mortems on all deceased animals. Police Station In-Charge, Vikram Rajak, stated that further action will depend on the post-mortem findings. Local animal welfare officials, including Bhagirath Tiwari, also visited the station and expressed deep concern over the incident.

Food Poisoning Suspected
Tiwari suggested that leftover food from a recent large religious or social gathering near Damaru Valley might have been consumed by stray cows, potentially causing food poisoning. He has called for a thorough investigation and strict action against those responsible, warning that a delay could lead to public protests.

Municipal Response
CMO Vaibhav Deshmukh of the local municipality confirmed that the deaths occurred near the event venue. All dead cattle have been properly buried. He added that once the post-mortem report is available, authorities will take appropriate action. At present, the exact cause—whether food poisoning, chemical contamination, or another reason—remains uncertain.
