Mysterious Deaths of Over 12 Cows in Narsinghpur; Police Await Post-Mortem Report

Narsinghpur: Panic has gripped the Niranjan Ward area of Narsinghpur after more than 12 cows were found dead under suspicious circumstances. Authorities suspect food poisoning, prompting the police to register a case against unidentified individuals. The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report, following which further action will be taken.

The incident occurred near Damru Ghati and the 132 kV electricity substation in Niranjan Ward. Local resident Mamta Bai filed a complaint at Gadarwara Police Station. Acting on the complaint, the police have registered a case under Section 325 of the BNS against unknown persons.

Post-Mortem Report to Determine Cause of Death
The Animal Husbandry Department has been instructed to conduct post-mortems on all the deceased cows. Police Station In-Charge Vikram Rajak stated that the post-mortem report will reveal the exact cause of death, which will then guide further proceedings. Cow protection activists and honorary animal welfare officer Bhagirath Tiwari also visited the police station, expressing deep concern over the incident.

Food Poisoning Suspected
Tiwari suggested that the cows might have ingested leftover food from a recent large religious or social event held near Damru Ghati, leading to suspected food poisoning. He has called for an impartial investigation and strict action against those responsible. Tiwari warned that failure to act promptly could lead to protests.

Municipality Responds
Municipal CMO Vaibhav Deshmukh confirmed that the deaths occurred around the event site. All deceased animals have been properly buried. The cause of death will be determined by the competent authorities once the post-mortem report is available. It remains unclear whether the deaths were due to food poisoning, chemical exposure, or some other reason.
