Khandwa Youth Beaten by Neighbor’s Family for Sending “Hi” on Instagram, Suffers Seven Stitches


Khandwa: A seemingly harmless greeting on social media turned violent for Dinesh Pal, a resident of Ahmedpur Khaigaon village in Khandwa. After sending a simple “Hi” message to his neighbor on Instagram, Dinesh was brutally attacked by the woman’s family and some associates, leaving him with multiple injuries, including fractures and seven stitches on his head.

Incident Details

The incident occurred on Sunday when Dinesh, enjoying his day off, sent a friendly greeting to his neighbor, who had recently followed him on Instagram. The woman frequently liked his posts, prompting him to respond politely. Shortly after, while Dinesh was working in his fields, the woman’s family, along with a few accomplices, tracked him down and physically assaulted him without any prior confrontation.

Police Rescue and Investigation

The Moghat Police quickly intervened, rescuing the injured Dinesh and taking him to the District Hospital for treatment. Moghat Police Station In-Charge Dheersh Dharwal stated that the attackers used sticks and rods during the assault. A case has been registered against the main accused, Suraj, and his four associates under sections 296, 115, 351, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code. Police confirmed that all accused have been identified and will be arrested soon.

Medical Condition

Hospital authorities confirmed that Dinesh sustained multiple injuries, including fractures in his arms and legs along with seven stitches on his head. Doctors have advised rest for a few days, and his condition is currently stable.

The shocking incident has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many criticizing the extreme response and emphasizing caution while interacting online. Local residents have also demanded strict action to ensure that ordinary social media interactions do not escalate into violent confrontations.

Cross FIR Filed

The Moghat police have also registered a cross FIR against Dinesh following a complaint from the woman’s side alleging harassment and inappropriate messages, as the investigation continues.
