Indore Tragedy: Newly Purchased Scorpio Turns ‘Vehicle of Death,’ Claims Lives of Two B.Tech Students

Indore, MP: A horrifying accident at Nakshatra Chowk, Lasudia late Friday night has left two B.Tech students dead and another critically injured after a high-speed Mahindra Scorpio rammed into their motorcycle. Police investigations revealed that the Scorpio had been purchased just eight hours prior, and the car’s occupants were reportedly celebrating with alcohol when the tragedy struck. CCTV footage has captured the full extent of the accident.

Incident Details

According to police and eyewitnesses, the Scorpio (MP09 QZ 0714) struck the motorcycle carrying three students near Life Care Hospital, dragging the bike and the students several feet across the road. The collision occurred around 2 a.m., and the impact was so severe that two of the students—20-year-old Krishnapal Singh Tanwar and 20-year-old Ayush Rathore, both residents of Khandwa—died instantly at the scene. The third student, Shreyansh Rathore, Ayush’s younger brother, suffered serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital. He is a first-year law student at Prestige College, Indore.

Eyewitnesses reported that the Scorpio was speeding at 80–90 km/h when it struck the students. The victims were emerging from a divider near a petrol pump when the car, coming at high speed from Nakshatra Chowk, collided with them head-on. The bike got trapped in the divider, and all three students were thrown across the road.

Circumstances Behind the Accident

Police investigations revealed that the Scorpio had been purchased the same evening by owner Abhijeet Kushwaha, who had conducted a ceremonial puja for the vehicle before taking it out for a celebratory outing with friends. During the outing, the occupants reportedly tested the vehicle’s speed while consuming alcohol, which led to the catastrophic crash. Bottles and glasses found in the vehicle confirmed alcohol consumption.

Immediate Aftermath

Eyewitnesses expressed shock as the bodies of the two deceased students lay on the road for nearly half an hour outside Life Care Hospital before the hospital management allowed them to be taken inside. Police officers, including TI KK Sharma, ADCP Alok Sharma, and ACP Himani Mishra, later arrived at the scene to supervise the recovery and post-mortem procedures.

The Scorpio has been seized by the police, and a manhunt is underway for all those present in the vehicle during the incident.

This tragic accident highlights the dangers of reckless driving and alcohol consumption, and has sparked outrage in the city as residents demand stricter road safety enforcement.
