Lucknow Welcomes New Year 2026 With Grand Celebrations; Hazratganj Remains Alive Till Midnight

The city of Nawabs, Lucknow, ushered in the New Year with great enthusiasm and vibrant celebrations, as thousands of people poured onto the streets, markets, temples, clubs, and public spaces late into the night. The festive spirit peaked at midnight, when chants of “Happy New Year” echoed across the city.

From bustling markets to spiritual gatherings and high-energy club parties, Lucknow remained immersed in celebration well past midnight, with Hazratganj emerging as the epicenter of festivities.

Hazratganj Turns Into Celebration Hub

As evening progressed, crowds steadily increased in Hazratganj, Alambagh, Gomti Nagar, and Indira Nagar. By late night, Hazratganj witnessed massive footfall, leading to traffic congestion as families and groups arrived in vehicles to welcome the New Year while enjoying the city’s illuminated streets and vibrant atmosphere.

To ensure safety and maintain order, a large police deployment was stationed near Summit Building, Phoenix Palassio Mall, and other key locations.

Markets Buzz With Festive Energy

Major markets across the city were abuzz with excitement from early evening. Restaurants, cafes, and hotels hosted special New Year celebrations, while people thronged shopping areas, soaking in the festive ambiance until late night.

Devotees Flock to Temples

Alongside celebrations, religious fervor marked the New Year’s Eve. Long queues were seen at prominent temples, including Hanuman Setu, where devotees waited patiently for darshan. Similar scenes were witnessed at other major temples across the city, with devotional chants resonating till late night.

Authorities have announced that on New Year’s Day, temples such as Hanuman Setu, Khatu Shyam, and Mankameshwar Mahadev will remain open throughout the day, with special arrangements and religious events organized for devotees.

Clubs and Parties Light Up the Night

Lucknow’s nightlife also came alive as people danced late into the night at clubs and party venues. DJ music echoed across popular locations, especially around Summit Building, Phoenix Palassio, and Gomti Nagar Extension, where revelers celebrated under strict police vigilance.

Gurudwaras Mark New Year With Devotion

New Year’s Eve was also observed with reverence at city gurudwaras. At Guru Singh Sabha Gurudwara in Naka, special Gurbani Kirtan and Simran were organized. As the clock struck midnight, flower petals were showered on the Guru Granth Sahib.

Similarly, a special congregation was held at Gurudwara Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib in Yahiyaganj, where floral offerings were made at midnight, marking the arrival of the New Year in a spiritual atmosphere.

Lucknow’s New Year celebrations beautifully blended joy, devotion, culture, and modern festivity, reflecting the city’s unique character. With tight security arrangements and widespread participation, the city welcomed 2026 with hope, harmony, and high spirits, setting a positive tone for the year ahead.
