
Lucknow: The construction of a new and modern headquarters for the Lucknow Municipal Corporation has officially begun in Gomti Nagar, behind the Fun Mall, within the Central Workshop campus. Designed on the grand architectural lines of the state’s prestigious Lok Bhavan, the four-storey building will be developed at an estimated cost of ₹160 crore and is expected to be completed within 16 months.
To facilitate the project, the existing RR workshop is being temporarily shifted to another location, while demolition work has already commenced at the site.
According to Atul Mishra, Executive Engineer (Zone 4) of the Municipal Corporation, the upcoming headquarters will be equipped with advanced facilities and dedicated office spaces for multiple departments, along with improved public service infrastructure.
Major Facilities Planned in the New Headquarters
Ground Floor:
- Parking space for 290 vehicles
- Entry lobby for councillors and public visitors
- Cash counter
- Birth and death certificate counter
- Rent and licence counter
- 300-seat waiting hall
- 162-seat cafeteria
First Floor:
- Officers’ entry lobby
- Reception area and waiting rooms
- Media waiting lounge
- CCTV control room
- Offices for Jal Kal, Revenue, Tax, and Veterinary departments
Second Floor:
- Offices for Accounts, Audit, Garden, Legal, Enforcement, Planning, and Environment departments
Third Floor:
- Offices for Civil Engineering, Project & Technical Cell
- Electricity and Transport departments
- Health and Establishment departments
- Executive chamber
- A large 202-seat House Hall
Fourth Floor:
- Offices for Additional Municipal Commissioner
- Assistant and Joint Municipal Commissioners
- Press gallery and visitor gallery
- Conference hall
- Offices of the Municipal Commissioner and Mayor
The new headquarters is expected to significantly strengthen administrative efficiency and improve citizen services, offering Lucknow residents a more organized and technologically advanced municipal system.
