
Lucknow: In a concerning incident, Ashish Kushwaha, a tax inspector posted in Zone-6 of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation, has gone missing under suspicious circumstances. His family has reported that his mobile phone has remained switched off for the past 48 hours, raising fears of an untoward incident. A missing complaint has been lodged at Gudamba police station.
According to officials, Ashish Kushwaha had been posted at the Zone-6 office located in Thakurganj for the past eight months. He was last in contact with the zonal officer on February 10, after which all communication with him stopped.
Family Expresses Fear of Foul Play
The family stated that despite repeated attempts, they were unable to reach him. Concerned relatives also contacted the Zone office but failed to obtain any clear information. Suspecting something serious, the family submitted a written complaint to the police, demanding immediate investigation.
Municipal Corporation Denies Pressure Allegations
The incident comes amid reports of increasing departmental pressure to meet house tax collection targets. However, Zonal Officer Amarjeet Yadav denied any claims of excessive pressure. He stated that the department is actively searching for the missing official and is in continuous contact with his family. He added that Ashish Kushwaha had been performing his duties normally and there was no negligence on the part of the department.
Police Begin Investigation
Police officials confirmed that they have begun investigating the matter and are examining CCTV footage, mobile location tracking, and other possible leads to trace the missing tax inspector. The family has again approached the police, urging them to intensify efforts and ensure his safe recovery.
