Lucknow: In a disturbing case from the Gomti Nagar area of Uttar Pradesh’s capital, several women have accused a man of befriending them under a false identity, recording objectionable videos, blackmailing them, and coercing them into sex work at a spa center. Based on their complaints, police have registered a case and launched a full investigation.
According to the complaint, the accused, Mohammad Kamru Jamal, who introduced himself as Rahul, befriended the victim and gained her trust. He allegedly recorded explicit videos and later used them to blackmail her. The victim stated that she first met Jamal and another accused, Kamr Hayat Idrisi, who promised her a job. She was offered a position at a café, but upon arrival, she discovered it was a spa center where women were forced to provide massages to men.
Allegations of Coercion and Blackmail
The victim claimed that on one occasion, the accused took her out, gave her beer, and recorded videos. She then discovered Jamal’s real identity on his Aadhaar card. When she confronted him, she was allegedly beaten. Police are collecting statements from the women involved and are conducting an impartial investigation to determine the facts before taking further legal action, said Inspector Brijesh Chand Tiwari of Gomti Nagar.
Sex Work Allegations at the Spa Center
The woman alleged that the spa center was used for sex work. Videos of women being massaged were recorded and later used to coerce them into illegal acts under threat of having the videos made public. She further claimed that women were sometimes sent to other districts for the same purpose.
Other women also approached the Gomti Nagar police, reporting that the spa center operators forced them into sex work and sexually assaulted them. One woman from Delhi alleged that four years ago, when she was a minor, she was lured online for a job, brought to Ajmer, and then to Lucknow, and forced to work in a spa. She claimed that she was drugged via cold drinks and explicit videos were made of her, which were later used to blackmail her into illegal acts.
Political Leaders Raise Concerns
Shishir Chaturvedi, national spokesperson of the Hindu Mahasabha, claimed that victims were blackmailed with videos, and some cases involved forced religious conversion. Police have not yet confirmed these allegations.
Police Action: Brown Girl Café Sealed
Following complaints of illegal activities being conducted under the guise of a spa, police raided and sealed the “Brown Girl Café” in Gomti Nagar. Inspector Tiwari stated that during the raid, authorities seized eight hookahs, 23 flavor packets, 12 pipes, 15 chillums, along with other paraphernalia. Coal, heaters, tongs, and filter pipes were also recovered. However, the café owner and staff were not present. The police also noted the absence of mandatory warning boards at the premises.
Police have assured that statements from the victims are being recorded and a thorough investigation is underway. Legal proceedings will follow based on the findings.
