Mahoba: Love truly transcends borders, and the heartwarming story of Romarica from the Philippines and Avaj Namdev from India is a perfect testament to this. Romarica traveled over 5,000 km from the Philippines to Mahoba in Bundelkhand, where she met Avaj, and their friendship blossomed into love. Captivated by the simplicity and culture of India, Romarica accepted Avaj’s marriage proposal in front of his family.
Journey from Friendship to Love
Avaj Namdev, a resident of Bandhan Ward in Mahoba, was working in the Philippines in 2022, seeking job opportunities. He joined the Caribbean Cruise Restaurant, where he met Romarica, who was also employed there. Working together, the two grew close, and Avaj’s simple, genuine personality charmed Romarica, while Avaj admired her humility and grace. Over time, their friendship turned into love. Even after Avaj returned to India and Romarica changed her job, they maintained contact, eventually leading Romarica to make the journey to India.
Experiencing Bundelkhand Culture and Cuisine
Upon arriving in India, Romarica was taken on a cultural tour that included Khajuraho temples, the Taj Mahal in Agra, and Bundelkhand’s historic landmarks such as the Suryamandir, Keerat Sagar, and Vijay Sagar Bird Sanctuary. At Avaj’s home, his family gave Romarica a grand welcome, serving traditional Bundeli dishes like Chana ki Bhaji, Baingan ka Bharta, and Bhatura parathas, all of which she loved.
Proposal and Future Plans
In a touching moment at Avaj’s home, he knelt before Romarica and proposed in front of his family, asking, “Will you marry me?” Romarica immediately said yes, filling the household with joy. The couple is planning to marry next year. Romarica expressed her admiration for India, describing the country as wonderful and its people as warm and welcoming.
