Leopard Terror in Mehandipur Balaji Area Pet Dog Snatched from Courtyard, Chilling CCTV Footage Leaves Villagers in Fear

Dausa: Panic has gripped villages surrounding the famous religious site of Mehandipur Balaji in Rajasthan’s Dausa district after a leopard was captured on CCTV preying on a pet dog inside a residential courtyard. The horrifying incident occurred late at night in Nahar Khokhra village, sending shockwaves across the region.

The CCTV footage, which surfaced on Saturday morning, shows a pet dog resting in what was believed to be a safe courtyard. Suddenly sensing danger, the dog begins barking and running, but within seconds, a leopard emerges from the darkness, pounces on the animal, and drags it away. The dog’s cries fade quickly, leaving behind a scene that has deeply traumatized the villagers.

Residents discovered the incident only after reviewing the CCTV footage the next morning, leaving them shaken and fearful for their safety.

Continuous Leopard Movement in Nearby Hills

According to villagers, leopard movement has been reported repeatedly in the hills surrounding Nahar Khokhra and nearby Lakhanpur village. Shepherds who once ventured alone into the forest areas are now avoiding solitary trips and moving in groups with sticks for protection.

As dusk falls, villagers have begun keeping children indoors, and an atmosphere resembling a “yellow alert” prevails across the area.

Villagers Demand Immediate Action

Local residents have urged the Forest Department to immediately tranquilize and rescue the leopard and relocate it away from human habitation. They fear that continued movement of the big cat near residential areas could lead to a fatal human attack.

Responding to the concerns, forest officials stated that the region is surrounded by dense hills, which form the leopard’s natural habitat. In search of prey, leopards often stray close to villages. The department has advised residents to remain alert, keep outdoor lights on at night, and avoid venturing out after dark.

Meanwhile, the chilling CCTV footage continues to circulate, intensifying fear among locals and raising serious concerns about human-wildlife conflict in the region.
