Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Sharpshooter Parmanand Yadav Nabbed After Encounter in Patna

Patna, January 22:
In a major breakthrough against organised crime, Patna Police arrested notorious sharpshooter Parmanand Yadav, an active member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, after a brief encounter in the Masaurhi police station area on Wednesday morning. The criminal sustained a bullet injury in his leg during the exchange of fire and was taken into custody.

The encounter took place near Lala Bigha on National Highway-22, where police teams intercepted the accused following specific intelligence inputs. Parmanand Yadav, a resident of Latehar district in Jharkhand, is a history-sheeter with nearly three dozen criminal cases registered against him, including murder, extortion, and robbery.

Encounter After Tip-Off

According to police officials, Patna Police received confidential information that the Bishnoi gang operative was attempting to flee towards Masaurhi. Acting swiftly, multiple teams laid a cordon in the area. During the operation, Yadav tried to escape on a motorcycle but lost control and fell near Lala Bigha.

Sensing imminent arrest, the accused allegedly opened fire on the police team using a pistol. Police retaliated in self-defence, during which Yadav was shot in the leg and overpowered.

Arms and Ammunition Recovered

Police recovered a pistol and several live cartridges from the possession of the accused. He was immediately shifted to a hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment under police supervision.

Sources revealed that the operation was carried out based on leads obtained from criminals earlier arrested in the Beur area, whose interrogation helped police track Yadav’s movements.

Search On for Other Gang Members

East Patna SP Parichay Kumar confirmed the encounter, stating, “The action was taken based on credible intelligence. The accused fired at the police team, forcing them to retaliate in self-defence. He has been arrested and is receiving medical treatment.”

The SP added that raids are underway to trace other operatives linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, as police intensify efforts to dismantle the criminal network operating in and around Bihar.

The arrest of Parmanand Yadav is being seen as a significant success for Patna Police in their ongoing crackdown on organised crime and interstate criminal gangs.
