Patna, January 14, 2026: At a festive Dahi-Chura feast hosted at former Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav’s residence, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav was seen in his signature authoritative yet playful style, giving instructions with subtle gestures while guests and family members followed his lead.
Despite sitting quietly, Lalu directed the caterers, jokingly instructing them to serve Litti-Halwa and ensuring the media got to eat first. His elder son Tej Pratap was quick to respond to every instruction, reflecting the typical “super boss” aura Lalu is known for. Guests and journalists alike were entertained by his humorous yet commanding demeanor.
Tej Pratap Confidently Interacts with Media
Before Lalu’s arrival, Tej Pratap interacted confidently with journalists. Responding to a question about preparing curd, he quipped, “We are Yadavs; without Yadav, milk and curd cannot work!” On Bihar’s political influence, he added, “Bihar runs Maharashtra. If Biharis leave, Maharashtra will be in trouble. Family comes first, yes, but the people of Bihar come first.”
Blessings from Lalu and Family
After MLA Chetan Anand arrived, Lalu Prasad personally blessed Tej Pratap, placing his hand on his son’s head. Tej Pratap touched his father’s feet and even helped him descend from the car. Other family members, including brother-in-law Sadhu Yadav and Prabhunath Yadav, followed suit, offering blessings and words of encouragement. Tej Pratap’s uncle, Subhash Yadav, also joined the occasion.
NDA Leaders Join in Festivities
The event saw a rare show of cordiality across party lines. JDU minister Ashok Chaudhary and Religious Trust Board member Sayan Kunal attended, emphasizing that festivals transcend politics. From the BJP, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha also visited Tej Pratap’s residence and joined the feast.
Subtle Political Message on Makar Sankranti
Lalu Prasad’s presence, in the absence of Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav, sent a strong political signal: his full support and blessings are firmly with Tej Pratap. The gathering underscored both familial unity and strategic political messaging during the festive season.
