Bihar Crime Update: In a shocking kidnapping case, Neeraj was abducted at gunpoint when a car overtook him and forcibly took him to a secret location. The abductors demanded ransom from his family. When Neeraj’s brother-in-law went to deliver the money, he was accompanied by a security guard, which led the kidnappers to open fire before fleeing. Eventually, after a ransom of ₹50,000, Neeraj was released safely.
Rise of Lady Don Poja
The kidnapping brought Poja into the limelight, earning her the moniker “Lady Don” in Bihar’s criminal underworld. Her notoriety grew after her arrest in 2013 in connection with a Scorpio car theft case in Shivhar district. During a raid in Vrindavan village, the police apprehended Poja and her accomplice Rajesh, recovering the stolen vehicle along with multiple bank accounts, ATMs, narcotics, and firearms. Poja was then jailed in Shivhar.
Mukesh Pathak: From Personal Tragedy to Organized Crime
Mukesh Pathak, a resident of Sulsabad village in East Champaran, entered the criminal world after a personal tragedy. A land dispute led to the death of his wife during a violent attack on his home. Falsely implicated in her murder, Mukesh was later exonerated and released. Seeking revenge, he murdered his cousin Premnath in 2003 and subsequently joined the notorious Santosh Jha gang.
Poja and Mukesh’s Shivhar Jail Story
Mukesh was arrested by STF in 2012 and transferred to Shivhar Jail, where he met Poja. The two developed a close relationship, and with jail authorities’ consent, they married on 14 October 2013 in the presence of jail officials, including the then SP Himanshu Trivedi.
When Poja became pregnant in 2015, it caused a stir in the jail as female inmates are prohibited from contact with male inmates. The jailer was suspended, and Poja later gave birth to a daughter in March 2016.
Organized Crime and Gang Operations
Mukesh later made headlines in Darbhanga for the murders of two engineers and went on to establish a well-organized gang. He reportedly hired shooters on a salary basis ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹35,000, along with additional allowances for food, clothing, and transportation, turning the gang into a formidable criminal outfit.
Continued Legal Troubles
Even after marriage and childbirth, Poja and Mukesh continued facing legal challenges. In 2017, Poja was arrested for threats, extortion, and gang promotion following complaints by a local shopkeeper. Mukesh was released in March 2025 after serving 14 years in jail but was re-arrested in July 2025 on charges of extortion and land grabbing.
These cases highlight the complex interplay of personal vendettas, organized crime, and law enforcement challenges in Bihar and surrounding regions.
