
Kota: In Kota’s busy shopping center area, a shocking incident of vandalism at a local religious site has come to light. The police have arrested a young man based on CCTV footage, who is reportedly mentally challenged, in connection with the incident.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Saturday night, when the accused damaged several idols and burned ritual garments at the temple. The religious site witnesses heavy footfall daily, making the act highly disturbing for the local community.
The matter came to public attention when an elderly woman visiting the temple discovered the damaged idols, breaking into tears at the sight. Soon after, other residents gathered at the site, staging a protest and dharna, demanding immediate action against the perpetrator.
The police, acting swiftly on CCTV evidence, tracked and apprehended the accused, recovering damaged idols and other ritual items from his possession. Local authorities confirmed the arrest, emphasizing that investigation is ongoing.
Political leaders react
BJP MLA Sandeep Sharma of Kota South also visited the site and expressed concern over the incident, urging the police to ensure strict action against the accused. The community has condemned the act and temporarily closed nearby shops as a mark of protest and solidarity.
The incident has raised serious concerns about security at public religious sites in the area, prompting the police to enhance vigilance.
