
Kota, Rajasthan: In a tragic incident from the nation’s coaching hub, a Haryana student preparing for the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) took his own life by jumping in front of a train in Kota. The deceased, identified as Sartaj Singh, was a 12th-grade student from Himayun Khera village in Sirsa district, Haryana, who had been living in Kota for the past two years for coaching.

Incident Occurred on Delhi-Mumbai Rail Line
The incident took place around 8:30 PM on Sunday night in the Udyog Nagar police jurisdiction, on the Delhi-Mumbai rail line. The police arrived at the scene and sent the body to MBS Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Student Preparing for Board Exams and JEE
According to Udyog Nagar police officer Jitendra Singh, Sartaj Singh had been residing in a hostel in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Kota, to prepare for engineering entrance exams. He was a 12th-grade student with board exams scheduled in April. Sartaj had also completed a two-year JEE coaching course.
Last Communication with Family
Family members reported that Sartaj was scheduled to return to Haryana on the night of 25 January. In his final conversation with his parents, he mentioned that his train was delayed by three hours and that he would go to the station to check. No contact could be established with him afterward.
Post-Mortem Completed, Body Handed Over to Family
The family arrived in Kota on Monday. The post-mortem examination was conducted in their presence, after which Sartaj’s body was handed over to them. Sartaj was the only child of his father, Kuldeep, who is a farmer.
Police Investigating All Angles
The family mentioned that Sartaj had spoken about a train delay, though the train was reportedly on time. The police are investigating the reasons behind the suicide, examining all aspects of the case to understand the circumstances that led the student to take such a tragic step.
