Korba, Chhattisgarh, 18 November 2025: The Korba police have apprehended Jaisingh Patel (27), the alleged mastermind of a motorcycle theft gang, who used stolen bikes to fund a lavish lifestyle and attract multiple girlfriends. Patel, along with five accomplices and three bike buyers, was arrested after police recovered 14 stolen motorcycles.
Gang Operated for a Decade
Patel, a resident of Kohdiya, had been missing from his home for the past ten years, with his family presuming him dead. He had been living in a makeshift hut near a mining area, hiding in the forested surroundings. Upon investigation, police uncovered that Patel had been running the gang for years, posing as a wealthy man to lure women.
Well-Planned Thefts
According to police, Patel and two of his associates conducted reconnaissance before each theft. They carried out multiple motorcycle thefts in areas including Deepka, Kusmunda, and Sarvamangala, and sold the stolen bikes to different buyers.
Accomplices and Buyers Apprehended
Along with Patel, the police arrested his two main accomplices and three buyers involved in purchasing the stolen bikes. The accused have been identified as Anas Khan, Shivcharan, Ramprasad, Rohidas, Lalji Yadav, and Imran Ansari.
Police Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Deepka Station In-Charge Premchand Sahu stated that detailed interrogations of the accused revealed the full extent of the gang’s operations. All six were produced in court and remanded to judicial custody. The investigation began after a complaint regarding the theft of a roller from the SECL Deepka mine led the police to Patel’s hideout.
This case exposes a decade-long criminal operation in the region, highlighting the need for vigilant policing and community awareness.
