Ujjain: In a rare and shocking incident, a venomous king cobra in Ujjain district suffered severe injuries after being struck by a JCB machine. The snake was unable to move properly and writhed in pain, prompting locals to alert snake rescuers, who rushed it to a veterinary hospital for urgent treatment.
Complex Surgery Saves the Cobra
A team of veterinarians—Dr. Mukesh Jain, Dr. Ravi Rathore, and Dr. Prashant Parihar—performed a critical surgery to save the king cobra’s life. The procedure involved 80 stitches to repair the internal damage. Dr. Mukesh Jain stated, “Initially, we feared the snake might not survive, as its internal organs were severely damaged.”
Surgical Procedure and Recovery
Under mild anesthesia, the doctors first reconstructed the internal organs and then stitched the external injuries in two layers. The snake was administered antibiotics and painkillers. Post-surgery, the king cobra showed significant improvement, began eating, and regained movement. It will remain under observation for a day or two before being safely released back into the wild.
