Balia, Uttar Pradesh: The historic land of Balia is set to come alive with the spirit of the Samajwadi movement as the Netaji Mulayam Singh Yadav Half Marathon 2025 is scheduled for 25 November. In a prelude to the event, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav unveiled the official T-shirt and cap at the party office in Lucknow on Wednesday, while expressing gratitude to former minister and party National Secretary Ram Govind Chaudhary for his support.
Akhilesh Yadav said that Netaji Mulayam Singh Yadav dreamed of nurturing athletes from every village to bring glory to the nation. Through this half marathon, he added, the younger generation of the Samajwadi movement will connect with Netaji’s ideals while embracing the spirit of sportsmanship.
The marathon, organized under the aegis of Jan Samvad Samanvay-Balia and affiliated with the Uttar Pradesh Athletics Association, will feature a 21.1 km men’s race. The run will commence from Yamuna Prasad Inter College, Narayanpur, Balia, and conclude at Veer Lorik Sports Stadium, followed by a grand award ceremony at Ganga Bahuddeshiya Sabhagar, Balia.
Significance of the Marathon
Dhananjay Singh Vishen, Manager of Jan Samvad Samanvay-Balia, highlighted that the primary aim of the event is to pass on Netaji’s ideals to the next generation, emphasizing that sports strengthen both the body and the mind. Secretary Pradeep Yadav added that the half marathon is fostering renewed enthusiasm among the youth of Balia, with online registration provided to encourage maximum participation.
Political Remarks on SIR and Unemployment
During the press conference, Akhilesh Yadav also criticized the central and state governments, stating that rising unemployment is a growing concern. He alleged that SIR initiatives are being used to divert attention from real issues like youth employment, suggesting that once SIR concludes, local elections will be conducted to shift focus. Commenting on Bihar’s exit polls, he further accused the BJP of strategically shaping narratives and perceptions for political advantage.
