Khatu Shyam Temple Darshan Update: Temple Closed Today; Falgun Mela 2026 Dates Announced

Sikar: Devotees planning to visit the famous Khatu Shyam Temple in Sikar today, Wednesday, 28 January 2026, are advised to take note: the temple will remain closed for public darshan for 18 hours. The closure is due to the annual Tilak Ceremony and special service rituals following Basant Panchami.

According to the temple committee, headed by minister Manvendra Singh Chauhan, the temple gates will remain closed from 10 PM on 27 January to 5 PM on 28 January. Devotees will not be allowed inside during this period, as special puja and Tilak rituals are performed in line with long-standing tradition.

Reason for the Closure

As per tradition, after every Amavasya or major festival such as Diwali, Holi, or Rakhi, the temple remains closed for a day to carry out special decoration, worship, and Tilak ceremonies. This year, Basant Panchami followed the Amavasya on 19 January. Due to consecutive weekends and the national holiday on 26 January, the special Tilak and decoration ceremonies were postponed, resulting in the closure being observed today, 28 January.

Temple Committee’s Advisory

Temple authorities, including Manvendra Singh Chauhan, have urged devotees not to visit the temple in the morning to avoid crowding and inconvenience. Darshan will resume from 5 PM onwards, allowing all devotees to witness the divine and auspicious presence of “Hare Ka Sahara, Lakhdata Shyam.”

Falgun Mela 2026 Dates Announced

This year, the Falgun Mela at Khatu Shyam Temple will be held from 21 to 28 February 2026, reduced from the earlier 12-day schedule to 8 days. During the mela, VIP access with official protocol will be allowed, while general VIP darshan arrangements will be suspended. To ease visitor management, QR codes will be issued for seamless entry and access to parking areas. The decision to shorten the mela comes after last year’s early days saw low footfall, while the darshan process took longer for devotees.

Visitor Information

Khatu Shyam Temple is one of Rajasthan’s largest religious sites, attracting thousands of local and international devotees daily. On weekends and major festivals, the number of visitors often crosses 100,000 per day, leading to long queues and roadblocks. During such peak times, traffic restrictions are implemented on routes leading to Khatu, and vehicle jams are common.

Devotees are advised to plan their visits accordingly, after 5 PM today, to ensure a smooth and fulfilling darshan experience.
