Kazakh Belly Dancer Escapes Alive from Tragic Goa Nightclub Fire

Panaji, Goa: A devastating fire broke out late Saturday night at the popular Goa nightclub “Birch by Romeo Lane,” claiming the lives of 25 people and leaving several others hospitalized in critical condition. Among those who survived is Kazakh professional belly dancer, Krishtina Sheikh, who was performing on stage when the blaze erupted.

Panic Erupts Amid Flames

Krishtina was in the middle of her performance when the fire alarm blared, sending the crowd into chaos. Witnesses said people were frozen in shock, looking toward the flames above them. Acting quickly, Krishtina turned and shouted for everyone to evacuate, narrowly escaping as the fire and smoke spread rapidly.

Most fatalities occurred on the ground floor and in the kitchen, where individuals were trapped and unable to escape. The fire reportedly started near the stage area, where Krishtina was performing, caused by an electrical short circuit.

Quick Thinking Saves Krishtina

Video footage from the incident shows Krishtina running toward an exit while the crowd fled. She initially moved toward the green room to retrieve her belongings, but a vigilant crew member shouted and pushed her away from the danger, saving her life in a critical moment.

Emotional Aftermath

Hours later, Krishtina returned home shaken but alive, embracing her daughter. In an emotional statement, she said, “When I held my daughter, I was grateful just to be alive. My team and all the musicians are safe, but the shock of those moments is still very fresh.”

Still in Shock

Krishtina described the traumatic moments during the fire: “The fire broke out due to a short circuit while I was performing. The music suddenly stopped, and I didn’t know what was happening. I just started looking for a way out. I was crying, my head was shaking, my hands are still trembling.”
