Kanpur: The ongoing dispute between Astha Singh and Ritu Tripathi, both employees of a private bank in Kanpur’s Panki area, has taken a serious and emotional turn. The controversy, which began after a video allegedly showing Astha Singh behaving rudely went viral on social media, is now escalating with fresh accusations and counter-claims from both sides.
A new video of Astha Singh has surfaced online, in which she claims she has been deliberately defamed. Visibly distressed, Astha is heard saying that the damage done to her reputation has become unbearable.
“I have been defamed. I feel like I should commit suicide now. What could be a bigger stain on my character than this?”

Astha further alleged that she has been targeted and humiliated publicly, and insisted that she will file an FIR against Ritu Tripathi’s family, along with pursuing a defamation case.
Ritu Tripathi Denies Responsibility
On the other hand, Ritu Tripathi has strongly denied any involvement in circulating or making the video viral. She stated that she did not upload the footage on social media and claimed that she herself is now being threatened online.
Ritu said she has received multiple threats through social media platforms and added that she will also approach the police to file an FIR against Astha Singh.
Bank Officials Meet District Magistrate
Meanwhile, the matter has also reached administrative levels. Bank officials have reportedly met the District Magistrate (DM) to brief him on the incident and the growing tension between the two employees.
Ritu Tripathi revealed that her resignation has not yet been accepted. She also stated that a bank inquiry team recorded her statement through a video call on Wednesday.
Astha Singh, however, remains on leave, and according to reports, the bank’s inquiry team has not contacted her so far.
Case Escalating Amid Social Media Pressure
The controversy continues to intensify as both parties accuse each other of harassment and character assassination. The case has triggered widespread discussion online, raising concerns about workplace disputes being amplified through social media, and the emotional toll such public controversies can take.
Police action and further internal investigation by the bank are expected in the coming days.
