Kanpur Lamborghini Hit-and-Run Case: Tobacco Tycoon’s Son Shivam Mishra Arrested, Several Injured

Kanpur: In a major development in the high-profile Lamborghini hit-and-run case in Kanpur, the Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested Shivam Mishra, son of billionaire tobacco businessman KK Mishra, for allegedly driving the luxury car that injured multiple people on the city’s VIP Road.

After undergoing a medical examination, Shivam Mishra was produced before the court. Police officials confirmed that he has been taken into custody following evidence indicating his involvement in the incident.

Incident Took Place Near Rave 3 Mall

The accident occurred on February 8, near Rave 3 Mall on VIP Road, when a speeding Lamborghini first rammed into an autorickshaw. Moments later, it hit a bullet motorcycle carrying three riders, leaving them seriously injured. The car eventually stopped after crashing into an electric pole. A pedestrian passing by also sustained injuries in the incident.

The accident triggered widespread outrage, with victims and local residents staging protests and demanding strict action against the accused.

Name Initially Missing from FIR

Initially, the police registered a case against an unknown person. However, following public protests and pressure from the injured victims’ families, Shivam Mishra’s name was later included in the FIR.

Driver Claimed He Was Behind the Wheel

The accused side consistently maintained that Shivam was not driving the Lamborghini, claiming instead that the vehicle was being driven by a hired driver. A day earlier, the driver also appeared before the media and claimed responsibility, stating that he was the one behind the wheel at the time of the accident.

However, police investigations and CCTV footage reportedly contradicted this claim.

CCTV Footage Confirms Shivam Was Driving: Police

Police sources stated that CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts clearly showed Shivam Mishra driving the car. A viral video from the incident also reportedly captured him being pulled out from the driver’s seat immediately after the crash.

DCP Central Atul Srivastava stated that their investigation has established Shivam Mishra as the driver of the Lamborghini during the accident, based on CCTV recordings and eyewitness testimony.

Father Claimed Shivam Was in Delhi

Earlier, Shivam’s father KK Mishra claimed that his son was in Delhi for medical treatment, citing his daughter’s poor health. However, police sources revealed that Shivam was allegedly hiding in Kanpur itself and was arrested four days after the incident.

Further Investigation Underway

Police have initiated further investigation to determine the exact circumstances leading to the accident, including the speed of the vehicle and whether negligence or reckless driving was involved. Authorities are also examining whether any attempt was made to mislead investigators by presenting the driver as the accused.
