According to one legend, the spirits abandoned the work when a woman started grinding grain nearby, leaving the temple incomplete—a state it has remained in ever since. Archaeological officials, however, dismiss these stories as myths without scientific basis.

Several intriguing legends surround the temple. Locals believe that after sunset, the temple is haunted by spirits, and eerie sounds can be heard. Another tale suggests that if nine black groom-led wedding processions of the Nai caste pass in front of the temple, it will collapse. Visitors are often warned against staying overnight due to these spooky beliefs.

The Mystery of the Pillars
One of the temple’s most fascinating aspects is its pillars. Local lore claims that no one has ever successfully counted them. Attempts to tally the columns reportedly result in different numbers each time. The temple also houses multiple Shivlings and statues, many of which are broken, adding to its enigmatic aura.
