Kailash Vijayvargiya Sparks Controversy Again: From Girls’ Clothing to Taj Mahal and Biharis

Madhya Pradesh Urban Administration Minister and senior BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya is once again at the center of controversy following his latest remarks, which have set social media abuzz. During the inauguration of a cricket tournament in Bina, Sagar district, Vijayvargiya claimed that the Taj Mahal was originally a temple, later converted into a mausoleum by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. He further made contentious comments about people from Bihar, prompting sharp online debates.

Historical Claim Stirs Debate:
Vijayvargiya asserted that Mumtaz Mahal was initially buried in Burhanpur before being moved to the site where the Taj Mahal was constructed. While his supporters called it a historical interpretation, critics condemned the statement as provocative and misleading.

Remarks on Biharis:
At the same event, the minister also commented on Biharis, suggesting that politeness is not inherent among them but praising BJP National General Secretary Nitin Naven for his advancement through courteous conduct. The statement triggered mixed reactions, with some considering it a casual political remark and others labeling it inappropriate and offensive.

A Pattern of Controversy:
This latest controversy follows Vijayvargiya’s prior remarks, including comments on two Australian female cricketers’ alleged harassment in Indore, where he suggested players should be more cautious and inform local authorities about their movements. Critics argued that his remarks diverted attention from police accountability and victim protection issues.

Congress Criticism:
The Congress party has strongly condemned Vijayvargiya’s comments. Spokesperson Bhupendra Gupta accused the BJP minister of crossing limits and spreading confusion in public discourse. Gupta added that such statements reflect the desperation of sidelined leaders seeking media attention. He also mocked the string of controversial historical claims made by BJP leaders, suggesting they write a new history book for the world to see.

Previous Controversial Statements:
Vijayvargiya has a history of controversial public statements. In recent months, he faced backlash for linking women’s clothing to morality, criticizing those he deemed “dressed immodestly” and advising young women to dress appropriately for selfies. He has also publicly criticized Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi and compared women’s attire to mythological characters during Hanuman Jayanti in 2022, sparking widespread outrage.
