Rajasthan’s prominent Marwar Mirdha family is facing an internal crisis as a dispute over a small ancestral burial plot turns contentious. Siblings Jyoti and Manish Mirdha are locked in a bitter standoff—while Manish calls it a “son’s duty,” Jyoti, currently abroad, accuses him of a calculated attempt to seize land. With FIRs, allegations of intimidation, and sharp exchanges on social media, this family feud has now spilled into public view.
The Heartfelt Claim: Duty or Personal Property?
The conflict escalated on the night of January 15, when Manish Mirdha shared an emotional post on social media. He stated that he intended to construct a memorial for his late father, Bhanu Prakash Mirdha, on the ancestral plot at the Mirdha Farm in Jodhpur, where memorials of his grandfather Nathuram Mirdha and elder brother already exist.
Manish claims that during the 2004 family division, it was decided that the burial site would remain “shared.” He alleges that Jyoti now plans to sell the valuable land, and the memorials are obstructing the proposed deal.
Jyoti Strikes Back: “A Pre-Planned Land Grab”
From abroad, Jyoti Mirdha issued a forceful rebuttal, rejecting Manish’s claims and calling it a conspiracy to illegally acquire land. She argued that since Manish conducted their father’s last rites on his own allotted portion of land, why should the memorial now encroach upon her private property? Jyoti sharply remarked, “In Hindu traditions, memorials are constructed where the last rites are performed, Manish Ji. Will you now insist on building one at Rajghat?”
FIRs and Allegations of Intimidation
The confrontation has gone beyond words. Jyoti’s caretaker filed an FIR at Pratap Nagar Police Station, alleging that Manish, along with 10–12 men, barged into the farmhouse, threatened the staff, and caused damage. While Manish maintains it was a son’s duty to honor his father, Jyoti views it as blatant violation of property rights and the law.
At the heart of the dispute lies a mere 150-square-yard plot, yet it has brought the reputation of one of Marwar’s most respected families into the spotlight, raising questions about heritage, property rights, and family honor.
