Junior Engineer in Bihar Amasses Over ₹1 Crore and a Licensed 9MM Pistol, Exposed by Sister

Patna, December 18, 2025: In a startling revelation from Bihar, a junior engineer has been caught with assets far exceeding his official income, including a licensed 9MM pistol and property worth over ₹1 crore. The whistleblower in the case was none other than the engineer’s own sister.

Vigilance Raids Uncover Massive Assets

On December 17, the Vigilance Department conducted raids at multiple locations linked to Mohammad Ansarul Haq, a Junior Engineer in the Planning and Development Department of Darbhanga district. The raids uncovered significant evidence of disproportionate wealth.

Investigators found 12 property sale deeds across different plots, 20 bank accounts, and numerous investment documents. Additionally, Haq owned a mini truck and an SUV. According to preliminary calculations, the total value of his amassed assets is approximately ₹1,46,95,550 (₹1.46 crore), which is nearly 400% higher than his declared income.

Licensed 9MM Pistol Found

Among the discoveries was a licensed 9MM pistol. Authorities are now probing whether Haq owned the firearm out of fear or simply to assert authority.

Properties Spread Across Multiple Locations

Raids were conducted simultaneously at Haq’s residences in Lalbagh near Jamalpura, Darbhanga; a property near Naya Tola Masjid; and another house in Ladaniya, Hariraha Panchayat, Madhubani. The Vigilance Department is continuing its search for additional undisclosed properties linked to Haq.

A New Face in Bihar’s Corruption Scandal

This case highlights the continuing issue of disproportionate wealth among public servants in Bihar. In a rare turn, Haq’s own sister played a pivotal role in exposing the scandal, bringing a new face of corruption to light in the state.
