
In a shocking case of job-related fraud, two drivers deployed with Bihar Police’s Dial 112 emergency service have been found involved in cheating unemployed youths in Purnea district. Acting swiftly on the directions of the Superintendent of Police, the police arrested four accused persons and sent them to judicial custody.
The fraud came to light after a young man approached the district police authorities, alleging that he was cheated of a large sum of money on the false promise of a job in a private bank.
Money Taken in the Name of Bank Job
According to police, the accused demanded ₹2 lakh from the victim for arranging a private bank job and managed to collect ₹1.70 lakh in cash. When the promised job failed to materialise even after a considerable period, the victim realised he had been duped and lodged a formal complaint.
Complaint Reaches SP, Probe Ordered
Superintendent of Police Sweety Sahrawat said that on January 6, 2026, the victim, Rohan Kumar Sah (25), a resident of Palasi under Narpatganj police station in Araria district, submitted a written complaint at K. Nagar police station.
In his application, Rohan alleged that Ajay Kumar Yadav (28) of Jankinagar, Purnea, had promised him a job in a private bank and demanded money in return. Further investigation revealed that two Dial 112 drivers had assisted the main accused in executing the fraud.
Four Accused Arrested
Following the registration of an FIR and detailed investigation, police arrested the following accused:
- Ajay Kumar Yadav, son of Mangal Prasad, resident of Jankinagar, Purnea
- Naveen Kumar, son of Mahendra Prasad, resident of Chakmaka, Ward No. 9, Jankinagar
- Nitesh Kumar, son of Dilip Mandal, resident of Lakunuwa village, Araria district
(Dial 112 driver, K. Nagar police station area) - Ravindra Kumar, son of Upendra Mahato, resident of Rampur Tilak, Ward No. 15, Jankinagar
(Dial 112 driver, Champanagar police station)
All four accused have been sent to jail under judicial custody, and further investigation into the racket is underway.
Police Warn Youths Against Job Scams
Police have appealed to young job seekers to remain vigilant and never pay money in exchange for employment promises. Officials advised aspirants to rely on legitimate recruitment processes and immediately inform the police if anyone demands money in the name of providing jobs.
Authorities have reiterated that strict action will be taken against anyone involved in job fraud, regardless of their position or association with government services.
