‘Ji Ramji Yojana’ to Provide 125 Days Guaranteed Employment with Weekly Payments, Announces UP Minister Satyadev Singh

Prayagraj: Uttar Pradesh Water Resources Minister and in-charge of Prayagraj district, Satyadev Singh, on Friday described the new ‘Ji Ramji Yojana’ as a milestone in rural development. The scheme guarantees 125 days of employment for rural workers, introduces weekly wage payments, and provides work breaks during critical sowing and harvesting periods.

Minister Singh emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047 can be realized only through the holistic development of villages. He added that the Modi government focuses not just on workers and farmers rhetorically, but places their labor, effort, and dignity at the center of policy-making.

Singh criticized the existing MGNREGA system for fraudulent job cards, fake payments, and irregularities over the years. He highlighted that under the new law passed by the state cabinet, rural workers will now be entitled to 125 days of guaranteed employment, up from the previous limit of 100 days. He noted that under MGNREGA, only unskilled tasks were typically assigned, which made the system prone to exploitation and financial irregularities, including the discovery of over ₹290 crore in discrepancies affecting 1.09 million cases.

The minister further clarified that under the Ji Ramji Yojana, workers will no longer have to wait 15 days for wages. Payment will be made weekly, directly to workers’ bank accounts with full transparency. Additionally, a 60-day work pause has been scheduled for critical sowing and harvesting periods, ensuring timely availability of labor and uninterrupted farming operations.

Minister Singh hailed the scheme as a step towards empowering rural workers and strengthening agricultural productivity, marking a significant reform in the state’s rural employment and development framework.
