Jhunjhunu’s Biggest Arson Case: Mastermind Still at Large as Police Arrest Two More Accused

Jhunjhunu Fire Case — The devastating fire incident that shook Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district on the night of November 29–30 continues to unravel new layers in the investigation. While police have arrested two more youths and detained two minors, the key mastermind behind the massive arson attack remains absconding.

Two More Arrested, Mastermind Still Missing

  • Sabir Leelgar (19), resident of Pipal Chowk, Jhunjhunu, and
  • Mahendra Kumhar (18), resident of Ramgarh Shekhawati.

Both were produced in court, where the police obtained three-day remand for interrogation. Two minors have also been detained and sent to a juvenile home. Earlier, two other accused had been arrested, taking the total to four, but the plot’s mastermind is still evading arrest, posing a major challenge for investigators.

The Incident That Sparked Statewide Shock

The case came to light after a motor workshop on Churu Road was set ablaze late at night. Workshop owner Nasir Rathore lodged a complaint stating that around a dozen named youths and several unidentified individuals vandalized his workshop and set it on fire.

The inferno destroyed:

  • 18 luxury vehicles,
  • Expensive machinery and tools,
  • And the entire workshop structure.

The estimated loss exceeds ₹3 crore, making it one of the largest arson-related damages in the region.

How the Attack Was Executed

Initial police findings reveal a pre-planned and coordinated assault. The attackers:

  • First broke the windshields of the luxury cars parked inside,
  • Then poured petrol over the vehicles,
  • And ignited the fire.
Some damaged vehicles were also targeted with petrol bombs, causing explosions and rapidly spreading the blaze across the workshop.

Within minutes, the entire facility was engulfed in flames.

Large-Scale Search Operation Underway

Superintendent of Police Brijesh Upadhyay informed that the attackers fled the scene in an organized manner. To trace them, police teams have carried out raids across:
Jhunjhunu, Bagar, Chirawa, Pilani, Singhana, Khetri, Gudha, Udaipurwati, Nawalgarh, Mukundgarh, and other probable locations.

Over 500 CCTV footage clips have been examined. While four accused are now in police custody, the absconding mastermind remains the primary target of ongoing raids.

The police assure that the entire gang will be exposed soon, and the investigation is progressing at full pace.
