Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan: A shocking case of fraud has emerged from Jhunjhunu district, where a young man was duped of nearly ₹6 lakh in a fake marriage scheme. The accused posed a girl from the victim’s own village as a bride from Kota to lure him into the scam. Police have arrested the woman and two accomplices from Jaipur after months on the run.
The Scam Unfolded
The victim, Rajkumar, filed a complaint on August 21, stating that a man named Hoshiar Singh promised to arrange his marriage with a “beautiful girl from Kota.” Using fabricated stories about the girl’s father requiring medical treatment, the accused extracted money in multiple installments totaling around ₹6 lakh. Investigation revealed that the girl in the photo was actually from the victim’s own village and had actively participated in the scam.
Conspiracy and Escape
The police stated that the woman had conspired with Hoshiar Singh to entrap the victim with promises of love and marriage. After successfully defrauding him, the trio fled and managed to evade the authorities for four months. A special police team finally arrested the woman and two accomplices from Jagatpura, Jaipur, following a series of raids.
Ongoing Investigation and Police Advisory
Thana Officer Ram Manohar Tholia said the accused are being interrogated in depth to trace the stolen money and identify any broader criminal network. Authorities are also investigating whether the gang has previously conducted similar scams.
The police have warned residents to remain cautious, as fraudulent marriage schemes are on the rise. Citizens are advised not to trust unknown agents and to report any suspicious activity to local police immediately to prevent such crimes.
