Ranchi: The winter chill has arrived early in Jharkhand, with the Meteorological Department issuing a cold wave alert for six districts from 10th to 12th November. Residents of Palamu, Garhwa, Chatra, Gumla, Latehar, and Lohardaga have been advised to take precautions as minimum temperatures are expected to drop further during this period.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperatures in most parts of the state have already fallen by 1–3°C over the past 24 hours, and the trend is expected to continue. Khunti recorded the lowest temperature at 9°C, while Koderma, Garhwa, and Chatra registered 11°C. Dense morning fog is also likely, which may affect visibility.
The northwest winds are contributing to the sharp fall in temperatures, with minimum readings dropping below 15°C in several districts and approaching 12°C in some areas. The IMD has urged residents to stay vigilant, keep warm, and take necessary measures to avoid seasonal illnesses due to the severe cold wave.
