Jharkhand: Wife, Alleged Lover Abduct Husband, Kill Him in Forest

Chatra, 2 Dec 2025: In a shocking incident from Jharkhand, a woman allegedly conspired with her lover to abduct and murder her husband. The husband was lured into a forest under false pretenses and killed on the spot.

Crime Details
The incident occurred in the Chatra district, where authorities revealed on Monday that the woman, along with her lover and an accomplice, had allegedly carried out the crime. The deceased has been identified as Sanju Bharti (35), a resident of Hiring village in the Hunterganj police jurisdiction. His body was recovered from the Sanghri Valley forest on Sunday evening.

Arrests and Investigation
Police officials confirmed that two suspects, including the wife, Rita Kumari (30), and an accomplice, Rishu Kumar (28), have been arrested. Sanju’s brother, Sanjay Bharti, had filed a complaint on 22 November, alleging that his brother was first abducted and then murdered by Rita and her lover, Arvind Bharti, who is still at large.

During questioning, Rita allegedly confessed to the crime and provided details about other participants. Acting on her statement, police arrested Rishu Kumar, who led them to the location of the body. The body was sent for post-mortem at Hazaribagh Sadar Hospital. Police continue to conduct raids at multiple locations to apprehend Arvind Bharti.
