Jharkhand Offers Dignity, Security to Doctor at the Center of Bihar Hijab Controversy

In a strong political and humanitarian statement amid the ongoing hijab controversy in Bihar, Jharkhand Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari has publicly offered a government job to Dr. Nusrat Parveen, the woman doctor who recently faced humiliation during her duty.

Addressing the issue, Minister Ansari announced that if Dr. Parveen chooses to serve in Jharkhand, she will be provided a monthly salary of ₹3 lakh, posting of her choice, and government residential accommodation. He emphasized that Jharkhand ensures respect, dignity, and complete security, especially for women doctors.

“An Insult to the Constitution and Humanity”

Condemning the incident in Bihar, Dr. Irfan Ansari described the act of pulling a woman doctor’s hijab as inhuman, shameful, and unconstitutional. Taking to social media platform X, he stated:

“The incident involving a woman doctor in Bihar is not just an insult to her dignity but an attack on the Constitution and humanity itself. Where Bihar failed to protect her honor, Jharkhand stands ready to offer respect, safety, and justice.”

Jharkhand Sets an Example

Praising the leadership of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the Health Minister said the decision reflects the state government’s commitment to protecting medical professionals and ensuring a safe working environment for women.

He asserted that Jharkhand values its doctors and does not compromise on their honor, dignity, or safety. According to him, this offer sends a strong message across the country that professional respect and human dignity cannot be negotiable.

Policy Backed Offer

The Jharkhand government currently follows a policy of appointing specialist doctors on a contractual basis to address shortages in the healthcare sector. Under this policy, doctors are eligible for up to ₹3 lakh per month, along with preferred postings. Dr. Nusrat Parveen’s invitation falls under this existing framework.

A Message Beyond Politics

Observers see this move not merely as a job offer but as a symbolic stand for constitutional values, women’s safety, and professional respect. At a time when the nation is debating issues of identity, dignity, and freedom, Jharkhand’s gesture aims to set a moral and administrative benchmark.
