
Dhanbad, Jharkhand: In a shocking incident reminiscent of Bihar’s infamous “Pakdowa marriages,” a 17-year-old boy from Baghmara village, Baliapur police station area in Dhanbad is alleged to have been abducted and forcibly married. The boy’s mother has approached the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), seeking urgent action to secure her son’s release.
Incident Details
According to the boy’s mother, he left home on the evening of 8th November, stating that he was going to Baliapur and would return within two hours. However, he did not come back. When family members tried calling him, the last location he shared was Sindri, after which his mobile went offline.
On 9th November, the family received a call from an unknown number, claiming that her son had been married. The caller reportedly shared a photograph of the alleged wedding via WhatsApp, instructing the mother to travel to Katras to “formalize the paperwork” before taking the couple home.
Threats and Fear
The mother has expressed serious concern for her son’s safety, stating that the caller threatened to kill her son if she informed anyone. The caller reportedly appeared on the “True Caller” app under the name Nisha Kumari. The minor boy, born in 2008, is currently an intermediate-level student and reportedly enjoys online gaming.
The mother has provided the wedding photograph and call details to the police and the SSP, urging immediate action to protect her son from potential harm. The Baliapur police have registered a complaint and begun an investigation into the case.
This incident has sparked widespread concern in the local community, highlighting the dangers of child abduction and forced marriage, particularly in tribal and rural areas.
