Jaw-Dropping Feat in Ahmedabad: JCB Dismantles 10-Storey-High Water Tank

Ahmedabad: A massive water tank in Ahmedabad was recently demolished using a JCB, leaving people astonished at the sheer audacity of the operation. What surprised onlookers most was that the JCB operated nearly 60 feet above ground, atop the 10-storey-high tank. Social media users praised the driver’s courage, with many humorously asking, “How will it come down?”

The operation was part of the redevelopment project at Kalupur Railway Station, a major hub in Ahmedabad, which has been chosen to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games. The water tank, over 75 years old, had been out of use for some time, and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) decided to remove it safely.

Operation “High-Rise Demolition”
According to AMC officials, the tank stood prominently in the middle of Sarangpur and its height made demolition extremely challenging. First, a crane lifted the eight-ton JCB onto the tank. Then, two workers were sent atop the structure to operate the machine. The JCB circled around the tank, gradually dismantling it in a controlled manner.

The AMC ensured all necessary safety measures were in place during the operation, including an insurance coverage of ₹1 crore in case of any mishap. A video of the demolition, shared by the Instagram account Amazing Ahmedabad, went viral with the caption: “Victory lies beyond fear? No, beyond fear stands the Ahmedabad JCB driver!”

The demolition marks a key step in the redevelopment of Kalupur Railway Station, which is being transformed into a 16-storey world-class facility equipped with modern amenities.
