Srinagar/Faridabad: In a shocking development, Jammu and Kashmir police have uncovered a major terrorist conspiracy targeting Delhi, following heightened vigilance after the Pahalgam terror attack. Authorities have arrested two doctors, Dr. Adil Ahmed Rathore from Anantnag and Dr. Mujammil Shakeel from Pulwama, recovering 350 kilograms of RDX explosives, an AK-47 rifle, and 84 rounds of ammunition. Investigations suggest the duo may be part of a larger network possibly involving other medical professionals linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed.
Doctors Under Scanner
Dr. Adil Rathore came under police radar after posting pro-Jaish-e-Mohammed posters in Srinagar. During questioning in Srinagar, authorities recovered an assault rifle from him. Further interrogation led to Dr. Mujammil Shakeel, whose hospital in Faridabad yielded the massive cache of explosives and firearms. Police consider Dr. Adil the mastermind behind this audacious plot.
Delhi and RSS Offices Potential Targets
Preliminary intelligence indicates that the terror network had conducted reconnaissance near Delhi, raising fears that RSS offices could have been a target. Police are meticulously questioning the doctors to determine the scope of the plot and the intended targets.
Nationwide Anti-Terror Operations Underway
Following the arrests, Jammu and Kashmir police launched a large-scale counter-terror operation across the valley. Nine people, including a woman, have been taken into custody. Authorities believe terrorists from upper regions were scouting safe hideouts in plains for the winter.
Legal Action
The arrested doctors are facing charges under Arms Act Sections 7/25 and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act Sections 13, 28, 38, and 39. Police and intelligence agencies, including the NIA, are involved in the ongoing investigation, and further arrests are expected.
This dramatic bust highlights the crucial role of vigilant policing and intelligence in preventing large-scale terror attacks, averting potential disaster in the national capital.
