Jalaun (Uttar Pradesh): A dramatic and life-saving act by a Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable at Orai Railway Station in Jalaun district has won widespread praise. In a heart-stopping incident caught on CCTV, an alert RPF jawan rescued a passenger who had fallen onto the railway track just seconds before a speeding train passed through.
The incident occurred when a passenger, later identified as Bhagwan Das, a resident of Ikhlas Pura locality in Orai, was crossing the railway track in haste. He was traveling with his wife to Delhi to visit relatives. At the same time, a goods train was approaching the station at full speed after receiving a green signal.
Quick Thinking Prevents Tragedy
As Bhagwan Das attempted to cross the track, he lost balance and fell. Within moments, RPF Head Constable Bhimsen Tripathi, who was on duty at the platform, noticed the dangerous situation. Without wasting a second, Tripathi sprinted towards the passenger, grabbed him, and pulled him onto the platform.
Just eight seconds later, the train thundered past the exact spot where the man had fallen. Any delay could have resulted in a fatal accident.
CCTV Captures Heroic Act
The entire rescue operation was recorded by CCTV cameras installed at the station. The footage clearly shows the constable’s presence of mind, physical agility, and courage. The video has since gone viral on social media, drawing praise from the public for the RPF jawan’s bravery and dedication.
“A Matter of Seconds”
Officials confirmed that the rescue took place in a matter of seconds. “The constable acted instantly. It was a situation where even a moment’s hesitation could have cost a life,” said a railway official.
Part of ‘Operation Jeevan Raksha’
RPF Inspector Abhishek Yadav stated that Indian Railways is running the ‘Operation Jeevan Raksha’ campaign to prevent such accidents. Under this initiative, passengers are continuously advised to use foot overbridges, lifts, and subways instead of crossing tracks.
“Announcements are regularly made, passengers are warned, and action is taken against those violating safety norms. The bravery shown by Constable Bhimsen Tripathi has been reported to the Senior Divisional Security Commissioner for appropriate recognition,” the inspector added.
A Strong Message on Railway Safety
The incident serves as both an inspiring example of duty and a stark reminder of the dangers of crossing railway tracks. Thanks to the RPF constable’s swift action, a life was saved—and a tragedy narrowly avoided.
