Jaipur: To tackle the persistent traffic congestion in Jaipur, the Sindhi Camp Bus Stand is set to be transformed into a state-of-the-art multi-modal hub (ISBT), modeled on Delhi’s integrated bus terminals. This ambitious project, estimated at ₹2,278 crore, aims to shift most private buses out of the city, significantly reducing traffic on Jaipur’s roads.
Enhanced Connectivity and Reduced Congestion
Under the plan, private buses will operate primarily from locations outside the city, while only a limited number of roadways buses will continue to access Sindhi Camp. The hub’s connectivity to the metro and railway stations will be upgraded, allowing passengers to travel efficiently across the city without facing traffic snarls.
Mega-Project Details
The initiative is not limited to Sindhi Camp alone. The government has proposed four additional bus terminals in Jaipur’s outskirts to further ease urban traffic. The transport department has requested Rights Limited (a railway undertaking) to conduct a fresh survey of costs to ensure the ₹2,278 crore project is implemented efficiently and on time.
City Commuters to Benefit
Once operational, this multi-modal hub will serve as a central point for intercity and intracity travel, decongesting Jaipur’s streets and offering smoother transit options for commuters. The ₹480 crore investment in the hub alone is expected to significantly reduce vehicular pressure in the city center.
