Jaipur Lawyers Protest After Female Advocate’s Traffic Challan, Claim Police Misconduct

Jaipur: A traffic dispute in Jaipur escalated after a female lawyer was issued a challan for her car’s red-stripe number plate and failure to present her driving license. The incident on Kalwar Road, one of the city’s busiest stretches, prompted lawyers to block the road outside the High Court in protest, disrupting traffic for a short period.

The issue arose when the female advocate was stopped on the service lane for allegedly driving on the wrong side. Circle Inspector (CI) Kavita Sharma issued the challan, citing traffic violations. The lawyer objected, referring to highway regulations, but the challan was still issued.

On the other hand, police claimed that the lawyer refused to show her driving license when requested, and instead stopped her car in the middle of the road for an extended period, further obstructing traffic. Authorities noted that she could have displayed her license and quickly left for court.
