In a shocking crime that has sent ripples across the city, a Jaipur-based lawyer was kidnapped following a minor road accident, assaulted, and taken nearly 100 kilometres away, where his family was forced to pay ransom digitally. The incident occurred in the Sanganer area of Jaipur, and police have arrested seven accused after a swift operation.
The victim, Advocate Manvendra Singh, was returning from Mansarovar to Sanganer when his car brushed against a taxi. What began as a minor collision quickly escalated into violence as 7–8 men travelling in the taxi attacked him.
Chased, Trapped, and Abducted
Sensing danger, the lawyer managed to escape initially and drove away, but the attackers chased him relentlessly in their taxi. In an attempt to evade them, Singh entered a narrow lane, only to find it blocked at the end. The assailants caught up, assaulted him, forced him into their vehicle, and abducted him.
The incident falls under the jurisdiction of Sanganer police station.
Ransom Demanded via PhonePe
After kidnapping the lawyer, the accused drove towards Lalsot in the Gangapur City region, covering a distance of about 100 kilometres. During the journey, they forced the victim to call his wife and demanded ransom.
Initially, ₹8,000 was transferred via PhonePe. Soon after, the accused demanded another ₹8,000. When the transfer failed, they sent a QR code via WhatsApp, following which the second payment was successfully made.
Police Track Location, Arrest Seven
Upon receiving information about the kidnapping, police rushed to the scene and found the lawyer’s car abandoned. The accused had switched off the victim’s phone and contacted his wife using another number. Based on mobile location tracking, police teams traced the suspects to Lalsot, where they cordoned off the area and arrested all seven accused.
Sanganer SHO Likhmaram Batesar confirmed the arrests and said further investigation is underway.
Accused Identified
The arrested individuals have been identified as residents of Sawai Madhopur district, mostly from the Bamanwas region. Police are probing whether the accused were involved in similar crimes earlier.
The sensational kidnapping has raised serious concerns over road rage turning into organised crime, highlighting the need for stricter surveillance and swift police action in the city.
