Jaipur, Rajasthan: In a tragic hit-and-run incident in Jaipur, a speeding Scorpio ran over two young men riding a scooter late Monday night, killing them on the spot. CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced, clearly showing how the vehicle struck the victims and fled.
Incident Details
The accident occurred around 11:50 PM at Kanta Chowk, Jhotwara area. The deceased have been identified as Mohit (23) from Neemkathana, Sikar district, and Virendra (40) from Kumher, Bharatpur district. Both lived in Panchyawala Sirsi Road locality. Mohit was a student, while Virendra worked at Apollo Pharmacy. According to reports, the two were heading out to eat when the speeding Scorpio hit them from behind.
CCTV Captures Fatal Impact
According to Ramkripal, SHO of Accident Police Station (West), the Scorpio collided with the scooter at high speed, throwing both riders onto the road with severe injuries. The driver immediately fled the scene. CCTV footage shows the Scorpio striking the victims and then speeding away, while bystanders ran toward the scene in shock.
Victims Die During Treatment
Passersby alerted the police after seeing the men lying in blood on the road. The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to their injuries during treatment. The police have registered a case against the unidentified driver and vehicle and are investigating the incident.
Police Hunt for the Driver
Authorities have formed a special team to trace the Scorpio and its driver. Preliminary reports suggest the vehicle was moving at extremely high speed. Officials have expressed confidence that the perpetrator will be apprehended soon. This tragic incident highlights the ongoing dangers of speeding and reckless driving in the city.
