Jabalpur: Obsessive Lover Murders Fiancée Over Dowry Dispute

Jabalpur Crime News: In a shocking case of obsession and violence, 19-year-old Richa Rajak was brutally murdered by her fiancé, Sahil Rajak, with the help of an accomplice. The attack occurred after Richa broke off their engagement due to Sahil’s demand for a dowry of ₹5 lakh and abusive behavior.

Engagement and Background

According to Additional Superintendent of Police Suryakant Sharma, Richa Rajak, a resident of Village Imlia, worked at a plastics factory in Richhai. She met Sahil Rajak at a wedding ceremony two years ago, and their friendship soon turned into a romantic relationship. Both families arranged their marriage, and the engagement was formalized, with the wedding initially scheduled for February.

Dowry Demand Leads to Broken Engagement

Sahil allegedly called Richa’s parents, demanding ₹5 lakh as dowry and verbally abusing them. Upset by this behavior, Richa ended the engagement. Sahil, suspecting Richa of having feelings for someone else, continued to threaten her over the phone.

Brutal Attack on the Way Home

Late Thursday night, as Richa was returning home from work, Sahil and his accomplice, Ajay, intercepted her in the Richhai Industrial Area. They attacked her with a knife, inflicting a deep wound to her neck and three to four stab injuries on her chest. Richa fell unconscious in a pool of blood and was rushed to Medical College Hospital. Despite treatment, she succumbed to her injuries on Friday afternoon.

Police Action

Following the incident, police filed a case of murder and conducted a thorough investigation at the scene. Both accused have been arrested, and the body was sent for post-mortem after proper documentation. Authorities are continuing further investigation into the motive and circumstances surrounding the murder.
