Profile of IPS Sonam Kumar
A 2016-batch IPS officer, Sonam Kumar hails from Nalanda, Bihar. He holds a degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Delhi and initially worked in a reputed American company. Inspired to serve the nation, he prepared for the UPSC exams and successfully joined the Indian Police Service in 2016.

The ‘Software Engineer IPS’ and Digital Innovator
Known in the police department as the “Software Engineer IPS” due to his engineering background, Sonam Kumar has spearheaded multiple digital initiatives in Agra Police Commissionerate, including the development of around eight apps in collaboration with IIT Kanpur. These apps focus on cybercrime prevention, public service facilitation, and digital policing. He has also held key positions such as DCP City and DCP Traffic, transforming traditional policing into a more technology-driven approach.

Personal Life
Sonam Kumar is married to Dr. Harsha, a renowned ENT surgeon in Agra. The couple had a long-standing love relationship before marrying with their families’ consent.
