Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: The web series ‘Ghuskhore Pandit’ has become the center of controversy after Inspector Vikram Singh of Hazratganj Police Station filed a case against its creators. Taking cognizance of public outrage and allegedly offensive language used in the series, Inspector Singh personally lodged the FIR, citing potential threats to social harmony. The matter has since attracted widespread attention on social media.
About Inspector Vikram Singh
Inspector Vikram Singh is currently posted at Hazratganj Police Station, having previously served at Krishnanagar Police Station. The 46-year-old officer, known for his effective policing and compassionate approach toward the public, was transferred to Lucknow on October 10, 2022, from Mainpuri, where he headed the Cyber Cell. Over his career, he has served in crime branches in Varanasi and Jhansi, as well as in Ayodhya as Station Officer, working across six districts in total.
A 2001 batch Sub-Inspector, Inspector Singh received his training in Moradabad. He has been widely recognized for combining strict law enforcement with social initiatives.
Notable Humanitarian Actions
During his posting in Krishnanagar, Inspector Singh displayed notable empathy. In July 2023, he personally ensured the last rites of an 80-year-old woman who passed away in a hospital, assisting her family in the process.
At Hazratganj, he initiated special programs to remove children’s fear of police, inviting them to the station, letting them sit in the inspector’s chair, and distributing sweets. His efforts in September 2024 were highly appreciated.
He was honored by DGP Rajiv Krishna in December 2025 for his exemplary service, particularly in handling the high-security Hazratganj zone.
Case Filed Against Web Series
Inspector Singh’s FIR targets the director and team of ‘Ghuskhore Pandit,’ citing violations under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the IT Act. Charges include:
- Section 196 IPC: Inciting hatred between groups on the basis of caste and religion
- Section 299 IPC: Deliberately hurting religious and caste sentiments
- Sections 352 & 353 IPC: Acts intended to disturb public peace
- Section 66 IT Act: Misuse of digital platforms to disseminate offensive content
According to the complaint, the title and content of the series allegedly insult a specific community, fostering caste-based animosity and tarnishing societal perceptions. The FIR contends that freedom of expression does not justify content that harms faith or social identity.
