Inside Myanmar’s Infamous KK Park: Six Youths From Bihar Rescued From ‘Cyber Slavery’

In a chilling reminder of the growing global cyber-crime nexus, six young men from Bihar — lured abroad with promises of lucrative jobs — were trafficked to Myanmar’s notorious KK Park, where they were forced into cyber slavery. After weeks of torture, coercion and exploitation, they were finally rescued and brought back to Patna on Friday by officers of Bihar’s Economic Offences Unit (EOU).

These individuals were among 360 Indian nationals freed through a coordinated operation by the Government of India in partnership with local agencies. They were repatriated from Thailand on 19 November.

Lured With Fake Job Offers, Forced Into Cyber Crime

According to EOU officials, the victims were promised high-salary jobs such as sales staff, data-entry operators, courier workers and delivery personnel. Instead, they were trafficked first to Thailand and then smuggled into Myawaddy, a lawless border town in Myanmar.

From there, they were taken to KK Park — a sprawling cyber-crime hub infamous for human trafficking, forced labour and extreme brutality.

Once inside, their passports were confiscated, communication was cut off, and they were forced under threats, physical violence and financial extortion to carry out online scams, phishing attacks and data-theft operations targeting foreign nationals.

‘We Were Treated Like Slaves’: Victims Detail Harrowing Ordeal

During preliminary interrogation, the rescued youths revealed how they were beaten, starved and tortured if they failed to meet daily cyber-fraud targets. Those who resisted were locked up, electrocuted or forced to pay heavy “penalties.”

The six rescued Bihari victims have been identified as:

  • Saket Saurabh
  • Dharmendra Kumar
  • Neeraj Kumar
  • Mohammad Ashad Farooqui
  • Mohammad Tanveer Alam
  • Arvind Chaudhary

All of them have been shifted to Patna for rehabilitation and counselling as part of the ongoing investigation.

KK Park: The Dark Heart of Asia’s Cyber Crime Industry

Situated near the Thailand–Myanmar border, KK Park has emerged as a global centre for coordinated cyber fraud. It is controlled by powerful criminal syndicates and operates largely outside law enforcement reach. Thousands of youths from India, Nepal, Bangladesh and African nations have reportedly been trafficked into the complex and forced to carry out large-scale online scams.

Despite repeated international pressure, the criminal network continues to expand, taking advantage of Myanmar’s political instability.

India Moves To Crack Down on Trafficking Networks

The EOU has initiated investigations into the agents and trafficking networks that trapped these young men with fraudulent job offers. Officials said strong legal action will follow against those involved.

The rescued victims will receive psychological counselling, financial assistance and long-term rehabilitation support to help them recover from the trauma.
