Indore, Madhya Pradesh: Ranjeet Singh, popularly known as the “Dancing Cop” of Indore, has been demoted following departmental action after allegations of inappropriate interactions with a woman from Mumbai. The police headquarters has reverted him from the post of Acting Head Constable to his original rank of Constable.
Background of the Case
Ranjeet Singh, widely recognized across India for his engaging traffic management style, faced allegations from a woman named Radhika Singh, a resident of Mumbai. She claimed that Singh had offered friendship, suggested she visit Indore, and even offered to arrange her flight tickets and hotel stay. Feeling uncomfortable with his behavior, Radhika shared a video on social media expressing her objections.
Departmental Action

Allegations and Defense
Radhika Singh alleged through social media videos that Singh’s conduct was inappropriate and intimidating. Singh defended himself by stating that roughly 18 months ago, the woman had identified herself as a fan and expressed a desire to see him on live duty. He claimed that his offer to arrange travel and accommodation was made in jest, with no intent to harass.
Despite his explanation, the woman posted additional videos criticizing Singh’s behavior and questioning his approach, highlighting the societal pressures and gender-based expectations women often face.
Public Response and Significance
The case has drawn attention to professional accountability for police officers, particularly those with a public presence. The Indore police have emphasized that disciplinary measures are taken seriously to maintain integrity and public trust.
