Indore: In a tragic incident in Indore, 19-year-old student Priyanshi Rao has taken her own life. Authorities have arrested the main accused, Navin Gaur, along with co-accused Bhumi (also known as Bhumika), following evidence recovered from Priyanshi’s mobile phone, including a video and chat messages implicating them in the case.
Video Evidence Reveals Mental Harassment
Before her death, Priyanshi recorded a video in which she accused Navin and Bhumi of causing her extreme emotional distress. In the video, she tearfully states that they had “driven her mad” and that she “could not live without Navin.” The video, along with messages exchanged on her phone, became key evidence for the police.
Accused Found Hiding in Village
According to police, Navin, a resident of Narmadapuram and son of Narayan Gaur, had arrived in Indore on Monday morning to seek anticipatory bail. However, authorities were informed of his presence before he could approach the court, and he was taken into custody. Navin had reportedly been hiding in Nimanpur village on Hoshangabad Road to evade arrest.
Shared Business and Personal Relationships
Investigations revealed that Priyanshi and Navin were operating a café together in Meghdoot Nagar and had been in a close, live-in relationship for about two years. During this period, Navin reportedly grew closer to Bhumi, which caused Priyanshi severe emotional distress.
Tragic Suicide in Her Room
On 24 November, Priyanshi, a student of Sej University, was found dead in her Meghdoot Nagar room, hanging from an iron chain. No suicide note was recovered from the scene, but the mobile evidence provided critical insights into her state of mind.
Persistent Harassment from Co-accused
Police reports indicate that Bhumi continuously harassed Priyanshi through calls and messages, pressuring her to distance herself from Navin. Additionally, Priyanshi had invested money in the café business at Navin’s insistence, adding financial stress to her emotional turmoil.
Priyanshi Attempted to Separate from Navin
Facing ongoing mental harassment, Priyanshi had left Navin’s room and moved into a separate residence in Meghdoot Nagar, a week prior to her death, with the help of relatives. During this period, Navin returned to Narmadapuram, escalating tensions between Priyanshi and Bhumi.
Police Action and Investigation
Additional DCP Ramsnehi Mishra confirmed that a case has been registered against both accused for abetment of suicide based on evidence, including the video and chat messages. Both Navin and Bhumi have been arrested and sent to jail. The police are continuing to gather further evidence related to the case.
Priyanshi, originally from Dewas, was the youngest of two sisters. Her family confirmed that she had been under severe mental stress in recent times.
