Indore: In a disturbing incident in Indore, a police constable posted at ChhatriPura Police Station has been accused of molesting a minor schoolgirl. The 10th-grade student alleged that the constable repeatedly obstructed her path and attempted to harass her. Following her complaint, an FIR has been registered against the accused under the POCSO Act and other relevant sections.
Constable Allegedly Grabs Student’s Hand
According to the police, the girl was on her way to a coaching class in the Chhatribag area on Tuesday when Constable Deepak, stationed at Dial-100 in Jayrampur Colony, allegedly blocked her path. The accused reportedly grabbed her hand and tried to coerce her into going with him. The terrified girl managed to free herself and safely reached her coaching class.
Repeated Harassment Led to Mental Stress
The student told police that the constable had stopped her on several occasions, asking for her personal details and following her. His police uniform intimidated her, and she remained silent for a long time, enduring considerable mental stress. Eventually, she confided in her mother about the incidents.
Family and Community Protest
Upon hearing her daughter’s account, the family became outraged. Members of local Hindu organizations joined the family in visiting ChhatriPura Police Station late Tuesday night, demanding immediate action against the accused. The situation prompted senior officers to intervene and restore order at the station.
FIR Registered, Investigation Underway
Recognizing the gravity of the case, the police questioned the accused and registered an FIR under the POCSO Act along with relevant sections for molestation. Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotia confirmed that the complaint has been formally registered, and a fair and thorough investigation is in progress. The accused constable, stationed with Dial-100, may face departmental action following the inquiry.
